Create powerful images with the professional standard!
Adobe Photoshop - the essential software for perfecting your images, Adobe Photoshop CS4 now offers productivity and workflow enhancements, powerful new editing tools, and breakthrough compositing capabilities.
Adobe Photoshop CS4 software accelerates your path from imagination to imagery. Ideal for photographers, graphic designers, and web designers, the professional standard delivers new features such as automatic layer alignment and blending that enable advanced compositing. Live filters boost the comprehensive, nondestructive editing toolset for increased flexibility. And a streamlined interface and new timesaving tools make your work flow faster.
Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended software delivers all the features in Photoshop CS4, plus new features for working with 3D imagery, motion-based content, and advanced image analysis. If you work in film, video, multimedia, 3D, manufacturing, architecture, engineering, medicine, or science, Photoshop Extended is for you.
Adobe Photoshop CS4 software takes advantage of the latest graphics processing unit (GPU) hardware to deliver superior performance. The software offers a smooth pan and zoom experience that allows users to easily edit images at the highest magnification while maintaining clarity. The new Canvas Rotation tool makes it simple to rotate and work on an image from any angle. Photoshop CS4 helps keep work areas clutter-free with a new unified application frame, tab-based interface and self-adjusting panels that make it easy to quickly access advanced tools, and provide a more fluid way to interact with the application.
Adobe CS4 Extended includes all the new features of Photoshop CS4 plus the ability to manipulate 3D imagery easier than ever before. Now, creativity knows no bounds, as users can paint directly on 3D models and surfaces, merge 2-D files onto 3D images and animate 3D objects. The 3D engine has been rebuilt from the ground up to provide faster performance, allow editing of properties like light and the ability to create more realistic renderings with a new high-quality ray-tracer. Video professionals have the ability to turn any 3D object into a video display zone and can animate 3D objects and properties with ease. In addition, the core motion graphics editing has been improved with more efficient single-key shortcuts.
Photoshop users may take a while to move to the new 64-bit version of Photoshop CS4, but it’s an important development; meanwhile, CS4 offers plenty of other significant upgrades to keep 32-bit users happy.
Photoshop now comes in both 32 - and 64-bit Windows Vista versions. The 64-bit edition will allow PCs with lots of RAM to work on very large images with less hard-disk swapping (ideally, no swapping at all), thus speeding up operations. With the shrinking amount of RAM available to modern PCs (due to a 4GB limit on 32-bit Windows versions and those operating systems’ increasing hunger for RAM), that’s a significant update.

Can a single building impact the career of an architect, the image of a global company and the future of a major city? Building the Gherkin chronicles the design, planning and construction of the controversial Swiss Re building, an ‘ecological skyscraper’ designed by renowned British architect Norman Foster.
Just a month and a day after the World Trade Center attack in New York, the first steel beam of 30 St Mary Axe (as its officially known) was erected in London on a site that had seen two previous IRA bombings. One question was on everyone’s mind: was it the right time and place to build a new iconic tower?
Sparking further controversy was the building’s design. Meant to address spatial, environmental, and social concerns, its unique design was so radical that it quickly became the target of ridicule in the British press, earning its nickname, ‘the erotic gherkin.’
Building the Gherkin is a fascinating documentary that covers the four-and-a-half year development period. Documenting everything from the initial blueprint design to the give-and-take between client and architect to the furnishing of the workspace, the film provides an essential, rarely-presented, overview of the entire architectural process.
So has the Gherkin become the landmark they all dreamt of? Since its completion in 2004, the building has won a number of prestigious architecture awards, and was voted the most admired new building in the world by fellow architects. But perhaps more importantly, the Gherkin has punctured the zeitgeist. It has been prominently featured in two Hollywood films (Woody Allen’s Match Point and Basic Instinct 2), a comic book, a video game, and has even been blown up by aliens in a popular British science-fiction television series.

Polymodeling is a modeling technique used in 3d modeling. Unlike box modeling, or other forms of modeling where you start out with a basic form or primitive object that determines the mass of an object, artists can use the polygon (the basic building block of all of the primitives available in 3ds Max). This approach allows for more control over the flow, placement and detail of the meshes that are built. Placement of vertices/points, edges and all other sub-elements that build our models is determined by the user, rather than pre-determined by a computer generated primitive.

In Beijing a building like no other has emerged. It is a bold experiment in architecture and a cutting-edge vision of construction eco-engineering. When Beijing hosts the 2008 Olympics the eyes of the world will be riveted on this building. Its official name is the National Aquatics Centre but in the world of mega-architecture it is reverently known as the Water Cube. It’s a brilliant fantasia of steel and plastic a honeycomb of 22,000 steel beams supporting pillows of high tech plastic inflated onto shimmering translucent bubbles. Go behind the scenes to learn more about the vision that saw the creation of a building destined to become one this century’s leading architectural feats.

Witness the Bahrain World Trade Centre. Two 50-storey glass “”sails”" rise over 240 metres into the sky along the shores of the Persian Gulf. This unique architectural marvel is powered in part by a revolutionary new means for a building this size - wind. This is the world’s first large-scale integration of wind turbines into a skyscraper. Three massive turbines supply clean power to the buildings. Explore the science behind the concept and discover how engineers and construction crews tackle this audacious project. In an oil-rich region of the world, the team transforms the vision to reality and looks to the future, committed to a renewable energy source of mega proportions.

It’s the most expensive railway tunnel ever built a product of endless surveying, giant boring machines, and a massive gamble. The Channel Tunnel connecting England and France is now a huge success, but there was a time when it was the tunnel nobody wanted.

Berlin’s Grand Central will, literally and figuratively, reconnect East and West Germany, ushering in a new era of unification. Step into this megawork-in-progress as engineers race to complete Europe’s largest train station before millions arrive for the World Cup football tournament.

The 450-meter Petronas Towers, the tallest twin towers on the planet, pushed the outer limits of construction technology and stand as a symbol of Malaysian pride and modernity. But building the towers was a construction challenge like no other, and the six-year endeavor turned out to be a high-risk project with a hugely ambitious schedule.

Speeding at 430 kph, a futuristic magnetic levitation train links the Pudong International Airport with Shanghai’s Longyang Road Station. The 30 km journey between air strip and financial district is now only an eight minute joyride. As the world’s first commercial electromagnetic levitation train system, MAGLEV combines the technology of conventional rail and the time advantages of air travel to produce a safe, energy efficient and low-maintenance form of transport that could change the face of 21st century travel.

What is Batzal Software Roof Designer?
Roof Designer is a new plug-in, currently only for Autodesk 3D Studio Max which helps architecture visualizers to model roofs.
The Work Process
Roof Designer lets the user constrain mesh faces to geometrical planes, making all of the face’s vertices reside on one flat surface.
Roof Designer automatically texture the output and can even put mesh tiles, of the user’s choice, on it.
This process takes no more than few minutes, a fraction of the time that it takes to get the same results without it.
Evaluation Period
The Roof Designer plug-in gives an evaluation period of 14 days to test its capabilities. although can’t be used commercially, the plug-in is fully functional during that time. After 14 days the plug-in will be locked until a License Activation Code will be supplied. The License Activation Code can be purchased in this website.
Support
Roof Designer comes with a documentation file, explaining every control and dialog of it. the documentation file also has a tutorial for getting started. This site has an online troubleshooting forum for peers and development team support. it’s also possible to contact the development team through E-mail, check the Contacts section for that…

Book Description:
Greenfield sites around towns and cities, and redevelopment infill sites in existing urban areas often become battlegrounds between the conflicting interests of developers and communities.
In America, design charrettes (intensive design and planning workshops) have become widely used as a means of bringing together these divergent groups, using detailed design exercises to establish agreement around a development masterplan. Despite the increasing frequency of their use, charrettes are widely misunderstood and can be misapplied. This book provides a detailed guidance on the proper and most effective ways to use this helpful tool. The book combines charrette masterplanning with the creation of “design-based” codes (also known as “form-based” codes) to control the development’s implementation in line with the design and planning principles established during the charrette process.
* Provides detailed and specific guidance on the management and best use of the increasingly popular, yet complex, public design event
* Blends history, theory and practice to paint the full picture of the past, present and possible future of community planning
* Shows how to manage the conflict between development, design and planning professionals and community interests inherent in current design and planning practice.

Encyclopedia of Architectural and Engineering Feats
SBN: 157607112X
Author: Donald Langmead / Christine Garnaut
Publisher: ABC-Clio Inc
Summary:
Humans do one thing better than other species: we build things. For
millennia, people have altered the landscape to create awe-inspiring
architectural and engineering wonders that rival the most impressive
structures created by nature. Cities built temples to worship their
gods; kings sponsored structures to glorify their reigns; nations
constructed sophisticated systems of canals and roadways to expand
their economic influence; architects designed novel buildings to house
an ever-growing population.
In only one book can you find them all. The Encyclopedia of
Architectural and Engineering Feats presents over 200 achievements in
architecture and structural engineering in all the inhabited continents
from prehistory to the present. A structure is included because of the
importance of its technological advance, its refinement of existing
systems, or its social and economic significance.

A complete overview of the work of the most important architect in the Middle East today.
Rasem Badran’s influence is rapidly spreading throughout the developing
world. His work involves the full spectrum of the built environment,
from urban planning to individual residences. He concentrates on making
architecture that meets the social and cultural requirements of the
people who use it, as well as being place-specific in response to
environmental conditions. Born in Jerusalem in 1945, Badran was
educated in Ramallah and then in Germany, which had a profound impact
on his approach to design. His well-balanced education, beginning with
a traveling apprenticeship with his father and continuing through a
fertile and exciting time of experimental architecture in Europe, has
allowed him to weave a systematically rational, Western methodology
with the intuitive traditions inherent in his own cultural background.

Description
A visual discovery of the architecture of the XXème century
With more than 3000 photographs, drawings and plans of the contemporary
modern architecture, this cédérom gives access an exceptional
iconography which recalls the history of the architecture of the XXème
century
It was carried out starting from the “Dictionary of the architecture of
the XXème century” published in version paper in 1996 by the Hazan
Editions and the French Institute of Architecture. It was updated and
enriched by multiple entries and additional images
Thanks to the various modes of alphabetical, geographical or textual
research, this program gives access to more than 2500 notes covering
all the fields of the architecture of the XXème century; they are
accessible by 7 different entries:
- 59 topics (Art déco, Skyscraper, Capacity and architecture…)
- 15 schools (Bauhaus, National School, of the Art schools of Paris…)
- 2125 architects (of Alvar Aalto in Peter Zunthor)
- 134 groups (of Adobe with ZGF group)
- 82 institutions (of AAM in Whitney Museum of American Art)
- 117 reviews and critical (of A+ with Zodchii)
- 20 houses of famous architects are studied thoroughly to emphasize
the creative process: drafts to the photographs of the project while

Frank Lloyd Wright (June 8, 1867—April 9, 1959) was one of the most
prominent and influential architects during the first half of the 20th
century. He developed a series of highly individual styles over his
extraordinarily long architectural career (spanning the years
1887-1959) and influenced the entire course of American architecture
and building. To this day, he remains probably America’s most famous
architect.

Transport Terminals and Modal Interchanges
By Christopher Blow
Publisher: Architectural Press
Number Of Pages: 192
Publication Date: 2005-03-09
ISBN-10 / ASIN: 075065693X
ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780750656931
Binding: Paperback
This is the first book to review a trend in transport systems which
has only recently come of age: the multi-modal interchange. Separate
modes of transport are being linked through ‘joined-up thinking’, and
transport designers and authorities are only now able to exploit
interchange opportunities. This book presents examples of how these new
opportunities have been planned and designed, and outlines how transfer
and mobility can be improved in the future.
Blow takes the airport as the focal point of true multi-modal
passenger terminals and presents the development of these buildings as
representing a new experience in travel. The book shows that the
success of the experience of transferring from one mode of transport to
another depends on the many factors, including congestion in an already
overloaded system, and the way that designers and managers have
addressed contingency planning. International examples are drawn from
areas where mobility is most concentrated and the demands on design are
at their highest. The book also addresses important issues of
rebuilding and redevelopment, where once separate modes of transport
are being linked to each other, and where short-term inconveniences
rectify past wrongs in the long term. It is a compendium of
architectural and engineering achievement.
* First book of its kind gives you essential information on multi-modal terminals
* International relevance illustrated though case studies from the UK, Europe, North America, Australasia and the Far East
* Understand how ‘joined-up thinking’ is applied on a large scale

By Jukka Jokilehto
Publisher: Butterworth-Heinemann
Number Of Pages: 368
Publication Date: 2002-03-06
ISBN-10 / ASIN: 0750655119
ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780750655118
Binding: Paperback
A History of Architectural Conservation expands knowledge about the
conservation of ancient monuments, works of art and historic buildings.
It includes the origins of the interest in conservation within the
European context, and the development of the concepts from Antiquity
and the Renaissance to the present day. Jokilehto illustrates how this
development has influenced international collaboration in the
protection and conservation of cultural heritage, and how it has formed
the principal concepts and approach to conservation and restoration in

simply pay lip service to the concept of "world" architecture, this

Designing with Structural Steel A Guide for Architects
Designing with Structural Steel A Guide for Architects
American Institute of Steel Construction, Inc. | 2nd edition, 2002 | ISBN 1564240525 | PDF | Pages: 374 | 2.5 MB
The purpose of this Guide is to provide architects with the tools
needed to feel more comfortable and confident working with structural
steel in building projects. With a greater understanding of the
characteristics and inherent benefits of structural steel, architects
will be prepared to better utilize steel as a framing material. Some of
the strengths structural steel offers in building design is high
resiliency and performance under harsh and difficult conditions, i.e.,
earthquakes and hurricanes. Steel offers the ability to span great
distances with slenderness and grace. Steel can be shaped to achieve
curved forms and goes up quickly to meet tough construction schedules
in almost any weather condition. Steel can be easily modified in the
future to satisfy changing requirements. And with virtually all
structural steel produced in the United States today made from recycled
cars and other steel products, steel offers environmental
sustainability for the future.

Design of Masonry Structures
Design of Masonry Structures
Taylor & Francis | 272 pages | ISBN: 0419215603 | Jan. 1997 | PDF | 5Mb
Interest in stuctural masonary has increased significantly in recent
years. As a result more advanced codes of practice for the design of
buildings in brickwork have been introduced in many countries. Design
of Masonary Structures covers in particular the structure and content
of the British code BS 5628 and the Eurocode EC6. Although the book is
written with reference to the British and European codes, the
principles described have general application and exemplify structural
masonry design based on a limit state approach. The opening chapter
provides a sound understanding of materials properties and relevent
structural principles, the basis for successful use of any design code.
Next the author gives a detailed description of the British and
European codes. The design of elements under compression, shear and
lateral load is discussed, as are reinforced and prestressed members
and masonry walls acting compositely with reinforced concrete or steel
structures.

Dubai’s Palm Island
An enormous project is underway in the Arabian Gulf that will change
the face of the coastline. It is so vast that it can be seen from
space. Palm Jumeirah, one of the most audacious engineering projects
the world has ever seen, is an artificial island in the shape of a
massive palm tree. A breathtaking megastructure and an ambitious
engineering feat, Palm Jumeirah is part of an even bigger plan to
transform Dubai into one of the world’s premiere tourist destinations.
But with only a few years to create this paradise island, it’s a race
against time. Besides the construction of the island, there is also the
challenge of building a small city, including 4,500 luxury houses and
apartments, 29 hotels, miles of roads, and all the utilities required
by the thousands of people who will be living on and using this island
including water, electricity, gas and sewage. The project is due for
completion in 2008 - are they on course to meet their deadline? And

Hoover Dam
Throughout human history, mankind has built monuments to its ingenuity
and skill. In Egypt it was the Pyramids. Rome, built the Colosseum. The
Greeks built the Acropolis. The great cathedrals of Europe raised the
skills of their builders to unequalled heights, creating awe inspiring
structures. In the Americas, the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde and the
high mountain city of Machu Pichu speak to the skill and ingenuity of
their builders. In the modern era, it’s buildings that reach near half
a mile into the sky, bridges that stretch enormous distances in a
single span, and machines that extend mankind’s reach far into space.
One monument that must surely be counted among the great achievements
of mankind is Hoover Dam.
